Obituary for
Emil Kuhr
Peacefully on June 26, 2018 Emil Kuhr passed away at St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 92.
He will be missed by his beloved wife of 65 years, Ursula, his daughter Edith (Fred), his son Erwin, his grandchildren Keegan (Tina), Erik (Airdrie), Karissa, and his brother Albert Kuras. He will also be remembered by his brother-in-law, many cousins, nieces and nephews and neighbours.
He was predeceased by his parents Oskar and Augusta Kuhr, his sister Irene Naujoks and his brother Edmund Kuhr.
Emil was born in Lithuania but was displaced by the Second World War, first to Australia and then to Canada in 1950. He worked for Westons Bakery until his retirement and kept in touch with his fellow workers at the Quarter Century Club dinners.
He loved to build things (houses, cottage), the challenge of fixing machines that broke, playing his accordian, dancing, cooking (especially flinzen and kartoffelwurst), gardening, fishing and bowling in the Seniors’ League at Chateau.
The family would like to thank the paramedics who arrived quickly and were highly professional as well as the caring staff at St. Boniface Hospital in Emergency, the Cardiac Care Unit and A5 Cardiology ward for their excellent and compassionate treatment.
A funeral will be held at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue on Friday June 29, 2018 at 1:00 pm.
Pallbearers will be Keegan Kuhr, Erik Kuhr, Karissa Kuhr, Ralph Jadischke, Terry Tschmier and Dylan Grymonpre.
Instead of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Red Cross, 570 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, R3C 0G4 or Lutheran World Relief, 600-177 Lombard Avenue, Winnipeg, R3B OW5.
