ALFONSI, Emidio On September 18, 2018, surrounded by his loved ones, Emidio “Mimmi” Alfonsi, 90, passed away peacefully. Although we mourn the loss of our incredible husband, father, Nonno and Gigi, we celebrate the many fond memories we have shared as one big family. Husband of 60 years to Giuliana, father of Elisa and Vince, Guido and Mary Ann and Sandy, cherished Nonno of Natasha and Steven, Jennifer and Matt, David, Jordan, Alyssa, Cierra, Jacob and Joshua, great-grandfather to Sienna, Ellie, Carter, Parker and Joseph. Beloved brother and brotherinlaw of the late Celeste and Peter, the late Ernesto and Angelina, the late Irma and Antonio, brother Antonio and Irma, sister Gemma and the late Zelindo and sister Elvira and Peppino, Arnoldo and Clara, Mario and Carol, the late Franco and Mimma, Anna Maria and Peppino. He will be dearly missed by his nieces and nephews and many friends that extended their support and love during this difficult time. Mimmi spent 35 plus years as a dedicated employee at Union Gas. He was a valued employee because he lived true to his values. He had an undeniable work ethic, he was honest and loyal. On August 5th, he celebrated his 90th birthday, and on September 11th, his 60th wedding anniversary. Mimmi celebrated both milestones with all his dearest loved ones by his side. His last proper meal included his favorite dish; a 24 oz. porter house steak. He was most proud of his grandchildren’s accomplishments and lived vicariously through their many adventures as they grew to become adults. His greatest joy and happiness over the past six years was the countless hours he spent preparing food for his five great-grandchildren. He always made sure to prepare enough until the next time he would see them; which sometimes was months in between. Mimmi made a point of always staying in contact with each of his family members. call to Italy, Nova Scotia or the U.S., he made sure to keep in touch with those who meant so much to him. His love of gardening and cooking (pomodori, lonza, prosciutto, salsiccia, pasta fatte in casa, olive ascolane, etc…) will never be forgotten. Thank you Dad for stocking us up with cappelletti for Christmas. We will enjoy them in your honour. Above all, he will be remembered as a family man; that lived the role as husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend as well as anyone could expect. His sense of humour and practical jokes will be reminisced and warm our hearts forever. Our heartfelt thanks to the staff and team of Juravinski’s emergency and ICU wards for their compassion, care and support. Resting at FRISCOLANTI FUNERAL CHAPEL, 43 Barton St. E., on Friday, September 21, from 2-5 and 6-9 p.m. Vigil prayers on Friday at 8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be offered at All Souls Church on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 11 a.m. Entombment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations made to a charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Emidio Alfonsi 2018..
