Obituary for Elsie Margaret Dyck (Wiens)
DYCK, ELSIE
Born July 13, 1921 in a German – Mennonite colony in Russia, Elsie passed away peacefully at Saint Luke’s Place, Cambridge on December 23, 2018 in her 98th year. Predeceased by her loving husband Eric. She is survived by her son Kenn (Brenda), and daughters Mary Lou Hume and Sherry (Bill) Gammie. She will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren Eric, Ian, Ben, Kate, and Elise and her 6 great grandchildren. In recent years, she enjoyed being taken for walks in the beautiful woods behind St. Luke’s, feeding squirrels and birds and was known to have a penchant for chocolate. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who handled life’s ups and downs with great wit and sense of humour. At Elsie’s request, there will be no visitation or service. Those who wish may make a memorial donation to the Mennonite Central Committee in lieu of flowers. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lounsbury Funeral Home. Elsie’s family would like to give a heartfelt thanks for the care she received at Saint Luke’s Place.
