Lovingly Remembered
It is with sadness that Elsie’s family announce her peaceful passing at the Dulcina Hospice in Calgary on May 24, 2018 at the age of 84 years, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Elsie will be lovingly remembered by her children Dale (Debbie), Keith (Janell), Neil (Angela), Colleen (Adam) and Lisa; thirteen grandchildren Carissa (Tom), Kirsten, Evinn (Lyndsay), Mackenzie, Dustin, Jordan, Rori, Dylan, Cole, Katelyn, Isabelle, Sam and Ava; sisters-in-law Christine, Joan, Gail and Sharon; and thirteen nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Anne and Ole Struksnes; husband Gordon; sister and brother-in-law Marie and Bill Melenka; and brothers-in-law Fred, Lars and Roy. Elsie grew up near Veteran, Alberta and then farmed and raised her family in the Hussar area with her husband Gordon until their retirement to Calgary in 2000. Family, faith, music, cooking and farming were her passions in life, and her family will miss her dearly.
Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at Mountain View Funeral Home (Prairie View Chapel) on Thursday, May 31, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. A Celebration of Elsie’s Life will be held at Mountain View Funeral Home, (Prairie View Chapel, 1605 – 100 Street SE, Calgary) on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens.
