Obituary Overview
In Loving Memory
Elodie Bernice Verboom passed away on November 2, 2018 at the age of 91 years. Elodie, affectionately known as “Nanny” to the many grandchildren in her life, will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Elodie was predeceased by parents Fred and Sophie Tetz; brothers Art, Clayton and Leroy; husband, Harm (Henry) Verboom, and daughter, Diana Clark. She will be lovingly remembered by daughters Brenda, Deborah, Cheryl (Evon) and Julia (Ron), as well as twelve grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Elodie was born and raised on the family farm in Trochu, Alberta, where she developed her well known love for cream, butter and baked bread. She later moved to the big City of Toronto, where she started her family and had her five girls. In the 1960’s Elodie returned to Alberta, where she pursued and shared her love of cooking at the Seventh Day Adventist Canadian Union College (CUC). Later in life, Elodie took up a career as an administrative assistant that continued until her retirement in the 1990’s. Throughout her life Elodie enjoyed hiking and camping and was an active member and pillar of the Seventh Day Adventists Central Church. She will be profoundly missed by her family and friends, who take comfort in knowing that she is safely home.
A Celebration of Elodie’s Life will be held at Calgary Seventh Day Adventist Central Church (1920 – 13 Avenue NW, Calgary) on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. To express condolences, please visit: www.mountainviewmemorial.ca.
