It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we, the family of Lorraine Mombourquette, 72, announce her sudden passing on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at the CBRH. Born and raised in Whitney Pier on November 15, 1946 she was the daughter of the late Margaret and James MacDonald. Lorraine was a loving mother and grandmother and worked hard her whole life to raise strong children. She will be sadly missed by her children, Ellen, Lorri, both of Sydney, Michelle (Edward) Pike of Middle Sackville and Darin (Kelli), Thunder Bay, Ontario. She is also survived by siblings, George MacDonald (Yvonne), Diane (Reg) Blunden, Carole (Doug) Spence, Melvin (Cindy) MacDonald; brother-in-law, Danny deMelo (Sally); daughter-in-law, Shauna; eleven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends. She is predeceased by one brother, John Dennis, in infancy; brother, James MacDonald; sister, Charlotte deMelo; sons, Louis and John. Many thanks to the great care she received from Dr. Myatt and his staff, Janice and Laura, the incredible nurses and doctors at the Renal Dialysis Unit, as well as the other patients in the unit to whom she considered friends, the nurses and doctors of the ICU, namely Sam and Duncan, who were so compassionate to us during such a difficult time. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 1, 2019 from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, January 2 at 2 p.m. at the S.W. Chant and Son Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Sheldon Chant to officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada or a charity of choice.
