Elizabeth Martin 2018

OBITUARY
Elizabeth Martin
May 19, 1930 – March 14, 2018
Our mother was born on May 19th, 1930, at Morden, Manitoba. She was the 3rd of 11 children born to Peter J. Wiebe and Maria Dyck. Mom loved her family, and loved country living. She attended a one-room school and was able to finish grade 7. Mom enjoyed people so much and this enjoyment never left her.
Betty met Abe Martin when she turned 16 and they married 2 years later. They lived and worked on a farm until dad’s sore back necessitated a move. By then Kathy and Reg were both part of the family.
Moving to Abbotsford in 1956 was a sad time for Betty as it meant leaving her family. It also meant clearing 5 acres of land on DeFehr Road and building a small house. Carpentry became dad’s business. Josie was born here in 1962.
Later years brought a move into town, getting a drivers license, selling much Tupperware as well as working for Reitmans.
Mom and Dad became faithful members of the Church of the Nazarene, and were so for over 50 years. Mom enjoyed baking, sewing, visiting and entertaining. In retirement years, hosting at Monck Park campground filled much of their time.
Betty was almost 88 years of age when she went to be with the Lord. Mom was a wonderful mother, sister and friend. Funeral service was held on March 20 from the Nazarene Church with burial following at Hazelwood Cemetery, Abbotsford.
The family is so thankful to the staff of Tabor Home for their love and care for mom. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
