Elizabeth ‘Betty’ MacDonald
1936-2018
Elizabeth Willena “Betty” MacDonald, age 82, passed
away December 22, 2018, at the Aberdeen Hospital, surrounded by her
loved ones. A lifelong resident of Bridgeville, Betty was a daughter
of James and Elizabeth (MacKenzie) MacDonald.
Betty
was employed by Wear Well Garments for 35 years, until her retirement.
She was a member of the Bridgeville Community Club and she enjoyed
running the weekly card parties. She loved the outdoors, and tea with
company. A natural people person, Betty always had a friendly
smile and loved to laugh with all.
Betty
is survived by her sister, Shirley Embree, Bridgeville. She is also
survived by her chosen daughter, Stacey Cummings (Matthew Deal); and
chosen sons: Melvin and Todd Cummings
(Tracey). Affectionately dubbed
“Grandma”, Betty is missed by: Harbor Deal,
Charleigh McKynlea and Jase
Cummings. Betty also leaves behind nieces and nephews: Beth MacLeod,
Anthony, Tasha, Chanci, Madalyn, Evelyn MacDonald, Clinton Yorke, and
sister-in-law, Edna MacDonald.
Betty
was predeceased by sisters: Isabell Cummings, Jessie Alice, Vera, Anna
and Cass MacDonald, as well as one in infancy; brothers: Allister,
Robert, Theodore, and Billy; nephew, Norman Cummings, and great
grand-nephew, Alex Cummings.
Visitation
will take place Friday, December 28, from 2-4, and 7-9 pm at the R.H.
Porter Funeral Home, 55 Almont Ave., New Glasgow. Funeral service will
be at 10 am on Saturday, December 29, from the Bridgeville United
Church, with Rev. Bonnie Fraser officiating. Burial will be in the
Elgin Cemetery. Donations in Betty’s memory may be
made to a charity of one’s choice.
