Obituary for Elgin Emil Cole
COLE: Elgin Emil Cole passed away peacefully with his family by his side at his residence, Fairview Personal Care Home on Monday, November 26, 2018 at the age of 69 years. Elgin was born on July 19, 1949 in Weyburn, SK. He attended school in Bienfait, SK, and later in Oakbank, MB. After graduating, Elgin rode his motorcycle to Alberta to work on a farm, and later worked as a cook on the railway. He then began working at Eaton’s Department Store in Winnipeg. As a young man Elgin developed Schizophrenia, and lived with his parents, and later at the Brandon Mental Health Centre. He enjoyed many vacations with his family, including travelling to Florida and Hawaii. Elgin is predeceased by his brother Keith, and his mother Isabel. He is survived by his father Elmer, as well as 10 nieces and nephews, 14 great nieces and nephews and many other loving family members. Elgin’s family would like to thank the staff of Fairview Personal Care Home, as well as the staff of the former BMHC for the excellent care that Elgin received. A memorial service will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, 3101 Victoria Avenue, on Monday, December 3, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Donations in Elgin’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 415, 1st street, Brandon MB, R7A 2W8.
