It is will great sadness that the family of Edward Burry announce his peaceful passing at Bonnew’s Lodge Long Term Care Home on Tuesday, April 24, 2018.
Edward was born in Greenspond, Bonavista Bay on October 21, 1931 and he was always very proud to tell people that he was from there, the Capital of the North. After moving to Gander in 1959 he worked at The Gander International Airport for Imperial Oil both as an employee and later as a dealer until his retirement in 2004.
Pre-deceased by his wife Elizabeth Burry of 64 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his daughter Heather (Kerry) Noble of Gander, son David (Aoife) Burry of Pittsford, N.Y., grandchildren Andrew and Wade Noble of Gander, Savannah and David Burry of Sarasota, Florida, Emma McNaughton and Seamus Burry of Pittsford, N.Y., brother in law Mark (Eloise) Piercey of Winterton, nieces Janet Bradshaw and Jennifer Langdon of St. John’s. In keeping with Edward’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Internment of the ashes of both Edward and his wife Elizabeth will take place at a service in Greenspond at a later date.
Many thanks to Dr. Carmel Casey and Lillian Paul for their ongoing care and of course to all of the medical staff at James Paton Memorial Regional Health Centre and Bonnew’s Lodge. Your compassion and professionalism during his stay is very much appreciated by our family. Donations in his memory can be made to Gander Wings Special Olympics or the Central Northeast Health Foundation.
