Edna Ewaniuk
It is with great sadness that the family of Edna Ewaniuk, (nee Pysh), announces her passing on November 6 2018 at Central Haven Special Care Home in Saskatoon at the age of 75. Despite her unexpected and rapid health decline, Edna passed away peacefully with hands gently held by those who loved her.
Edna was born September 28, 1943 in Saskatoon and grew up on the family farm in the Prud’homme SK area. She was the daughter of the late Stanley Pysh and Gabrielle Proulx.
Edna is survived by her husband of 58 years, Orest Ewaniuk and daughters Carol Engel (Dave), Lorna Martsinkiw (Joey) and Joan Cheshuk (Ian). Edna’s grandchildren Kaitlyn Engel, Jacob Engel, Gabrielle Martsinkiw, Courtney Cheshuk and Connor Cheshuk. Her sister Leona Hargreaves and brother-in-law Isadore (Marg) Ewaniuk and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Edna will be celebrated and remembered for being a vivacious woman, phenomenal cook, tireless worker and loving mother who made the most of each day with zest and optimism. She loved her work as a hairdresser and school bus driver. She was a true people person who connected easily with old and young alike. Edna was a member of the CWL and Canadian Royal Purple Society. Mom loved playing cards and Yahtzee, going to the dog park with Joan, camping and fishing with the Martsinkiws, Roughrider games with the Engels and shopping. But most of all she loved family gatherings.
Edna was predeceased by her parents Stanley and Gabrielle Pysh, father and mother-in-law Peter and Mary Ewaniuk, brother Victor Pysh, sister Loretta Grabowski and several brother and sisters-in-law.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John Bosco Roman Catholic Parish (1202 Avenue 0 South) on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. with celebrant Rev. Fr. Marvin Lishchynsky. Rite of Committal of ashes will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery.
