Obituary of Edmund Haines
Edmund Russell Haines, 87 of Berwick, passed away on November 24, 2018 in the Valley Regional Hospital. Born on May 3, 1931, in the family home in Farmington, Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia.
Edmund was no stranger to a hard day’s work and thus understood early on the importance of an education. To that end, he went on to become a Graduate of The Nova Scotia Agricultural College and McGill University of Montreal, Quebec.
He then spent the majority of his adult life working for the Province of Ontario, as a Provincial Milk Inspector, while living and raising his family in the Ottawa area. Upon his retirement Mr. Haines was the developer of the Silver Spring Farms garlic gardens, using the proceeds to support; The Ottawa Carlton Associations for Persons with Developmental Disabilities.
Edmund leaves behind his twin daughters, Kimberly Anne Haines of Ottawa and Rose-Marie (Pierre) Pommainville of Ottawa; brother Clinton (Leona Harris) Haines; sister-in-law Kathleen Haines; nieces, great nieces and great nephews, all of Nova Scotia.
He was preceded by his Wife Claire (Jack) Haines; sister and brother-in-law Rosamond (Gerald) McKay; brother Stanley Haines and his parents Russell and Muriel (Tupper) Haines.
Service to take place at later date. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4P 1B9 (902-679-2822).
