Edith Marie Fietz Evans 1931 2018

Obituary for
Edith Marie Fietz (Evans)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a wonderful and cherished lady, Edith Fietz on Wednesday, July 25th, at the age of 86. Edith leaves behind her loving husband of 62 years, their 3 children – Evan, Alan and Laura, as well as her “grandcats” Theodore, Abbigail and Penelope. She was a dear sister to Grace Evans and Alan Evans. Edith was born in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan to the late Ora Marie and Eric Desmond Evans. She graduated from the Nursing Program at the University of Alberta in 1953. She worked in Coquitlam, B.C., Lloydminster, Saskatchewan, Grand Prairie, Alberta, and Yorkton, Saskatchewan. She met Cecil in Lloydminster in 1954, moved to Ottawa in 1955 where she worked at the Civic Hospital. Edith married Cecil in Lloydminster on June 30, 1956. In 1962 she hung up her nursing cap and devoted the rest of her life to being a loving wife and mother. Edith was a voracious reader, loved to travel and enjoyed playing cards. She was also a talented crafter and sewer. She was a gentle, sweet, loving soul who was loved by everyone she knew. We would like to thank the nurses and doctors at the Elisabeth Bruyere Hospital for the excellent care she received. We would also like to thank Dr. Mark Nassim for all his care, help and guidance. Friends are invited to visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street (at O’Connor) on Thursday, August 2nd from 11 am until the time of the Memorial Service at 1 p.m., reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, in memoriam donations to the Cancer Research Society or the Bruyere Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
