Earl Douglas Seamone 1929 2018

Obituary of Earl Seamone
SEAMONE, Earl Douglas
Age 88, of Branch LaHave, passed away March 23, 2018, in Rosedale Home for Special Care. Born in Baker Settlement, he was the son of the late Dean and Maude (Mailman) Seamone.
Earl worked as a machinist most of his life, working at Acadia gas for twenty-four years and as manager of Silver’s Spring Shop for sixteen years. He retired thirty years ago to devote his time to his Christmas trees, work in which he took great pride. Time on the tree-land brought him joy daily. He described those years of working in the woods as the happiest years of his work-life. Earl was also a great craftsman, making ox knobs for fellow teamsters across the province, and as well, making sure his grandsons each had a set.
Earl was deeply proud of his family and enjoyed all family gatherings, always laughing, telling jokes, and saying what a fine family he and Ginny had.
Earl is survived by his wife of 70 years, Virginia (Grace); children: Paulette (Harvey), Gary (Laura Lee); and Donna. Grandsons: Jeff (Jo-Anne), Darren, Benjamin (Jennifer), and Luke (Erin); great grandchildren Lauren, Kate, Adam, Elliott, Henry, and Evelyn. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and many friends, especially Linda and Vincent Wile.
He was predeceased by his parents; brothers: Bert, Reggie, Eugene and Chester; and Aunt Edna (Mailman) Simpson.
Many thanks to home-care workers who gave such good care to Earl while he was still at home. Special thanks to staff at the Veteran’s Unit at Fisherman’s hospital in Lunenburg and, especially, to the staff at Rosedale Home for their excellent care when Earl could no longer be at home. Deep gratitude to Dr. Diane Edmunds and Dr. Esther Raymond for their exceptional medical attention and affection. He was appreciative of the compassion and kindness (and good humor at his jokes) shown to him by all who played such an important role in his life.
Donations in Earl’s memory can be made to Rosedale Home for Special Care or S.H.A.I.D. TREE Animal Shelter.
There will be no visitation or funeral, at Earl’s request. Private family committal ceremony at a later date.
