It is with heavy hearts that the family of Earl Frank Hoeg age 75 of Amherst announce his sudden passing as a result of a motor vehicle accident on Thursday, December 6th, 2018.
Born in Amherst, he was the son of the late Aubrey and Areatha (Elliott) Hoeg.
Earl was well known in the community and was quick to start up a conversation with a stranger that often led to long lasting friendships. Prior to his retirement, he worked long hours and dedicated years at Hoeg’s Grocery in Maccan. Earl was an active member of The Royal Canadian Legion. He loved playing darts, fishing, curling, pool and playing crib. In the summer, you could find him enjoying family time at the Amherst Shore. Earl recently discovered a love for travel and his adventures at the age of 70 included couch surfing in Europe, attending a music festival in Spain, house sitting a castle in Portugal and trips to the Caribbean, not to mention his first trips to British Columbia and Newfoundland and Labrador. Earl spent the last week of his life, smiling, laughing and enjoying the ocean waves in Cuba.
Earl is survived by his son: Earl Patrick Hoeg (Kim Rose) of Bedford; grandchildren: Ben Hoeg and Erin Hoeg; former wife: Theresa Manthrone (Hoeg) of Amherst; Sisters: Susan Hoeg of Amherst and Cathy Collins of Maccan; brothers: Eric Hoeg (Deborah) of Amherst , Bob Hoeg (Heather) of River Hebert, and Ron Hoeg (Betty Anne) of River Hebert; brother in-law Roger Strang (Sandra) of Amherst and many loving nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews and friends.
In addition to his parents, Earl was predeceased by his son Stuart Hoeg, sister Sandra Strang and brother-in-law Carson Collins.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, Amherst NS, (902-667-9906) where cremation has taken place. Following Earl’s wishes, there will be a celebration of life to be held on Saturday, December 15, 2018 from 2 – 4 pm at The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 14 , in River Hebert, NS (1596 Fundy Shore Ecotour).
Memorial donations in memory of Earl may be made to The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 14, River Hebert or to a charity of the donor’s choice.

To my 1st cousins,I haven’t seen Earl for years,but Earl&I were close in age, and spent time together as kids.So sorry to hear of his passing.
