Obituary of Douglas Gillard
Gillard, Douglas – On Friday, September 28, 2018 Martin Douglas Gillard passed away. He was known to everyone as Doug. In recent years he had been in a battle with Lewy Body Dementia. In his 85 years, Doug lived a full life. With this loss, the family has entered a season where they are feeling relief and grief.
To our many friends, thank you for your overwhelming love and support.
Doug is survived by his wife Rita (Margaret) of whom he was married to for 62 years and she was his chief care giver.He was father to Maurice (Dea) Gillard, Sandra (Brian) Reynolds and Katharine (Mike) McCord. He was grandpa to Brooks, Brittany, Taylor, Paige and Braeden. He was great-grandpa to Indica and Sitka.
There will be a small gathering of family and friends at the Calvary Gospel Church, 4129 Hixon St. Beamsville at 1 – 3p.m. on Friday, October 5th.
A special word of thanks to all the staff of the United Mennonite Home in Vineland. Thank you for all the love and care you showed to our father.
In lieu of flowers, we would be honoured to see memorial donations given to alzheimer.ca – Lewy Body Dementia Research.
