In Loving Memory
Our beloved Sonny passed away peacefully in the early morning of April 13, 2018 at the age of 87 in Burlington, Ontario. Sonny joins his treasured wife of 63 years, June (nee Dunn), who he had greatly missed since she sadly left us in July 2017.
Much loved father and father-in-law of June Harris (Seymour), Oakville and Georgia Gilmour (Sean), Innisfil. He was the best father you could ever hope for and we will miss him greatly. We love you Daddy.
Proud and adored Papa to his angels Dawn and Brenda Ripley, Joey (Jacelyn) and Matthew Gilmour and Meagan Harris. Great grandfather of Sean, John, Dakin, Nickolas, Ian, Vince, Jacob, Duncan, William, Ava and Cooper. Great-great grandfather of Hayden.
Sonny was born in Springhill, Nova Scotia in February 1931 and moved to Toronto as a young man. Son of the late Allison Langille and Katherine Matheson Bowlsby. Brother of the late James (Duddy), Richard (Dick), Adelaide, Jim and Diane.
Sadly missed and remembered by sisters Janice Woitas and Cathy Pearson (Dave). Fondly remembered by in-laws Lillian Dobson (Bill), Bob and Barb Dunn, Susan Dunn, Wendy Dunn, Diane Dunn and Art Milford. Uncle to many nieces and nephews throughout Canada.
A dedicated family man, master malapropist, avid fisherman, excellent woodworker, Teamster, lover of Hawaii and Nova Scotia. Sonny always had a kind word and joke for everyone and we will miss his laughter and teasing nature.
A Celebration of Life gathering will take place at a later date.
At this time, we would like to thank Aunt Janice for her excellent care and companionship. We also thank the wonderful people at the Carpenter House Hospice in Burlington, Ontario. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Hospice would be greatly appreciated.
