Mattka, Douglas Andrew. – 68, Dartmouth. It is with deep sadness we announce that Douglas passed away December 27, 2017, in Dartmouth General Hospital, after battling cancer. He will be greatly missed by his wife Beth; daughters, Amanda and Jacqueline; stepdaughters, Karen (Kenny), Kori; sister, Janet (George); beloved grandchildren, Adam, Darian, Sasha, Desiree, Trinity, Samantha, Kimmie, David and Vinnie; sister-in-law, Margaret (Ken); brother-in-law, Ron (Marcia); numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife Victoria Hadden, parents John and Rosalea Mattka.
Doug loved sailing, working in his workshop, going to flea markets, and his dogs. He loved trains and was a member of the Dartmouth Model Railway Club. He was also an active member of Regal Heights Baptist Church in Dartmouth, where he will be deeply missed. He was well known for his kindness and generosity, his sense of humour and outgoing personality.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Regal Heights Baptist Church, 6 Regal Road, Jan. 6 at 1:00 p.m., with Pastor Jason Cole officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to The Children’s Ministry at Regal Heights Baptist Church, 6 Regal Road, Dartmouth, NS, B2W 4Z7.
Arrangements are under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit.
