Dorothy Pearl Greer 2018

Obituary Overview
In Loving Memory Of
It is with sadness but gratefulness to have had her with us for so long that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother Pearl Greer at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on June 27, 2018 at the age of 94.
Mom was born in Yorkton Saskatchewan to Richard and Dora Surgeson and was the fourth of five girls born to them.
As a young woman, Mom moved to Ottawa where she was employed during wartime, for Statistics Canada. It was here that she met and married our Dad, Bud Greer, a native of Joggins.
As an RCAF couple, Mom and Dad lived in various places throughout Canada and Europe but made Joggins their vacation destination when possible. Once retired from the military, they moved to Iqaluit (Frobisher Bay) where Mom worked for the Northwest Territories Government in procurement. They fully retired in the mid-1980s and made Amherst area their home.
Mom was the last surviving member of her immediate family and besides her parents was predeceased by our father in 1998 and her four sisters, May Campbell, Ruby MacIndoe, Phyllis Friskie, and Edith Brothers.
She is survived by her two sons, John (Cheryl) and Steven, both of Amherst and her grandsons, Scott (Edmonton) and Matthew (Quesnsel, BC). She is also survived by her dear friend and relative Charlene Greer, Mom appreciated your visits so much.
Mom was quiet, kind hearted and unassuming. She loved to laugh so family get togethers were often times of great joy and belly busting laughter.
Arrangements are under the direction of Campbell’s Funeral Home, Amherst.
A graveside interment will be held on Saturday July 7 at 11:00 am at the Amherst Cemetery.
Mom’s sister Edith was a VON Nurse and Mom benefitted from the wonderful services provided by this organization so we’d appreciate that donations in her memory be made to the Cumberland VON. She also had a soft spot for dogs so donations can also be made to your local animal shelter.
Our family would like to extend appreciation to Dr. Zaremba and the Medical Unit at CRHCC for their compassionate care. We would also like to thank Lori Cousins for her kindness and tenderness towards our mother.
Condolences and sharing of memories may be shared with the family via: www.campbellsamherst.ca or by visiting the Funeral Facebook page.
