1929-2018
It is with sadness that the family of Doris E. Lawson, age
88, announces her passing which occurred on Saturday, January 6, 2018
at Great Oaks Special Care Home. Born in Big Cove, NB on December 19,
1929, she was a daughter of the late Stanley and Winnifred (Edwards)
White and the wife of the late Jim Lawson whom she married in June of
1947.
Doris was always busy with her flower and vegetable gardens
in the summer, and knitting in the winter. She ran the Post Office and
store from 1960 – 1969 and still ran the store until after
2000. She entered her flowers, vegetables and knitting in the Queens
County Fair from about 1950 until 2017, winning many
prizes.
Doris is survived by her son Bruce (Cindy) Lawson, daughter
Connie McLean, and daughter-in-law Bonnie Lawson all of Shannon, NB;
brother Philip (Muriel) White; Grandsons: Ian, Bryce (Marlene), Brent
(Denise), Peter, Scott (Sherri) and Mark (Lynn); great grandchildren:
Elliot and Abbi; sister-in-law Dorothy Lawson; as well as several
nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Doris was predeceased by her
husband James; son James Allan Lawson; and son-in-law Allan
McLean.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Sherwood’s
Funeral Home and Life Tribute Centre (506-839-2156), 18 Scovil Road,
Norton, NB. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 from 3
to 6PM from Shannon Baptist Church. The funeral service will be held
on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at 11:00AM from Shannon Baptist Church.
A private family interment will take place at Shannon Cemetery in the
spring.
Donations in memory of Doris may be made to the memorial of
the donor’s choice. Personal condolences to the family and
