Doris Brown
Ms. Doris P. Brown of West Saint John died at home on Tuesday, December 26, 2017.
Born October 17, 1937 in Saint John, NB she was the daughter of the late Harry and Iva L. (Prosser) Brown and sister of the late Iris Duke. She was employed with Manpower for the Federal Government for 30 years of her career and also enjoyed an active 25 year retirement. She was a lifelong member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church and was the organist at many of the area churches over the years, the most recent being Carleton-Kirk United Church where she played up until this past summer. She also volunteered at Saint John Regional Hospital, and enjoyed many other hobbies and interests.
Doris is survived by two nephews; Brent and Brigitte (Leblanc) Duke of Findlay, Ohio, Brad and Tanya (Landry) Duke of Calgary, Alberta and a niece; Brenda Duke and Ray Desjardins of Calgary, Alberta, as well as cousins.
Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, N.B. (634 1701). At Doris’ request, there will be no visitation. A private family graveside Funeral Service will be held at Ocean View Memorial Gardens Cemetery. At her request, the ashes of her beloved cat, Amy, who passed in the fall, will be buried with her. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, Canadian Cancer Society, or to the charity of your choice in her name would be appreciated.
