Obituary for
Doreen Berthiaume
Doreen (Bunnie) Margaret Elizabeth Berthiaume of Brockville, Ontario, died peacefully at the age of 80 at the Brockville General Hospital on June 30th, 2018 after a lengthy issue with Alzheimer’s. Born in 1938, the eldest daughter of Paul and Ada (nee Finch) St. Pierre of Wakefield, Quebec.
Married in 1977 at Brockville, to Russell Berthiaume. Bunnie was a registered nurse starting her career in Brockville at the maternity ward of the St. Vincent de Paul Hospital in 1960. During her career she also enjoyed her stations at the Brockville General Hospital in the Geriatrics department and the Fulford Home on King St. East.
A caregiver as well as an accomplished singer, Bunnie’s leisure activities included several plays with the Brockville Operatic Society and many weddings where she would sing for newlyweds and family.
Bunnie’s gift for cheering up those in need brought her acting abilities to the forefront with funny faces, dancing and singing.
Survived by her children Derek Humble, Dan Humble, Jody Humble and Katharyn Humble, step mother to Michael Berthiaume, Tracey Countryman, Kelly Berthiaume and Cameron Berthiaume. Grandchildren; Cody Humble, Devon Humble, step grandchildren; Melissa Berthiaume, Amber and Rose Countryman and eight great grandchildren. Bunnie is survived by her sister Barbara Verhy brother Rich St. Pierre and her former husband Dean Humble.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Irvine Memorial Chapel at Roselawn, 2451 County Road 15, Maitland on Friday July 6, 2018 from 11 – 1 pm. A ceremony celebrating Bunnie’s life will be held in the Chapel at 1 pm. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the CPHC will be gratefully acknowledged.
