October 12, 1933 – March 14, 2018

BEALS, Donald Edward – Age 84 of Middleton and Greenwich, NS passed away peacefully March 14, 2018 in Blomidon Court. Born in Brooklyn, Annapolis Co. he was a son of the late Freeman and Blanche (Gilliatt) Beals. After serving his country in the Korean War, Duke worked in Toronto. Later he returned home to farm and when not farming he drove a school bus. When he was done farming, he started, “Don’s Trucking” delivering for Sears, Eaton’s and doing small household moves. After selling the business, he started as a truck driver for Thompson’s Moving and Storage. Duke enjoyed gardening and family gatherings. He is survived by his sister, LaVaughn Wright, Greenwich and several nieces and nephews who he loved to tease. He was predeceased by his wife, Gertrude “Helen” (MacDearmid), brothers, Owen, Ronald, Paul and Robie, sisters, Doris Reagh, Louise Gardner, Patsy Neily and a brother and sister in infancy.
Cremation has taken place and by request there will be no visitation. There will be a graveside service in Church Grove Cemetery, Melvern Square at a later date. Donations in Duke’s memory can be made to a Charity of Choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St. 902-825-3448.
