1932-2018
Donald James Avery, age
86, of Abercrombie Road, formerly of Trenton, passed away Monday,
December 17, 2018, in the Aberdeen Hospital. Born in New Glasgow, he
was a son of the late Stephen and Jenny (Manette) Avery. He was a
retired welder from Hawker Siddeley. Donald was a quiet man with a
loud laugh and a warm heart. He spent many years of his retirement out
in his barn, hand crafting furniture and custom pieces for his friends
and family. He would often take long walks along the New Glasgow
river. He is survived by a son, Bud (Linda), Inverness;
granddaughters: Haley (Dave), Halifax; Ashley, Halifax; grandson:
Donnie Brousseau; great grandchildren: Maleah, Gabriel and Lachlan;
brother: Harvey, New Glasgow; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased
by his beloved wife, Jean (Kehoe); infant daughter, Zita Marie and
sister, Pearl Vaschel. Cremation has taken place. Visitation 7-9 pm
Thursday in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, 73 High St.,
Trenton. Funeral Mass will be held 11 am Friday in Saint John
the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, New Glasgow, with Fr. Tom MacNeil
officiating. Burial will be in Christ the King Cemetery at a later
date. Donations in his memory may be made to the Palliative Care Unit,
C/O Aberdeen Health Foundation.
