Dolores Elizabeth Clarke
Dolores Elizabeth Clarke passed away quietly on August 9th, 2018 in her 89th year.
Dolores was born on December 21st, 1929 in Grey Township to Eva & Eddie Machan. Dolores was the cherished and beloved wife of Charles Clarke to whom she was married for 69 years. She was the loving mother to daughter Beverley Freel (David). The proud grandmother of Patrick Freel, Katriona Westacott (Jeremy) and Laura Freel. Dear sister to Rita (Don), Donald (Ruth), Lavar (David), Doug (Carolyn), and Margaret (Robert). Loving aunt to nieces, nephews and grand-nephews.
She grew up in a small rural community, and always described herself as a simple farm girl. Upon graduating high school, Dolores moved to Toronto to work. She met Charles at a church picnic on Toronto Island. They were married on May 28th, 1949. Most of their married life was spent in Scarborough, where Dolores loved to garden, bake and apply her beautiful seamstress skills. She was an avid reader of novels, and never lost her interest in poring through magazines for new recipe ideas.
A service will be held at St. Andrews’ Presbyterian Church in Huntsville on Saturday, September 8th, 2018 at 12 noon. Reception to follow.
In memory, donations may by made to the Algonquin Grace Hospice.
