It is with sadness that the family of the late Derek Ross Penney, age 66 of Springdale, NL announces his passing on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at the Green Bay Health Care Centre, Springdale.
On June 8, 1952 Derek Ross Penney was born in Springdale and the proud parents were Arthur and Doris Penney. He was one of thirteen children, 8 boys and five girls.
Derek was an avid outdoors man. He loved to cut his own firewood and as he would cut wood, another highlight of the trip in the woods would be a good boil-up with his sister, Eileen and family. Besides having a great love for the outdoors, he also had a love for animals, especially cats and dogs. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, whenever possible.
He is predeceased by his parents Arthur and Doris Penney; brothers Roy Penney, George Penney, Eugene Penney, Barry Penney, Glenn Penney.
Derek leaves to mourn and remember the life that he lived, his brothers Dennis Penney, Ronnie (Marjorie) Penney; sisters Bonnie (Dick) Grant, Pauline Follett (Howe Pickett), Doreen (Dave) Blackler, Eileen Penney, Rhonda Curtis (Norman McCreight); his furry friends Tigar Paws (cat), Paddy (dog), as well as other extended family and friends. He will be missed but not forgotten.
As per Derek’s wishes there will be no visitation or service.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Elaine M. Rideout and Harry Oxford of Green Bay Funeral Home, Springdale, NL.
