February 01, 2018
We said goodbye to Dennis Joseph Cormier Sr. WW2 Veteran, on February 1, 2018, in his 94th year, at Lakeland Long Term Care in Parry Sound. His loving wife and best friend Marie (Yeates) was by his side until the end after 65 years of marriage.
Dennis was born in Parry Sound to the late Joseph and Charlotte (Salter) and was a younger brother to the late Louise ”Toots” (Leo) LeBlanc and Irene (Norm) Trembath. His children Linda (Bob) Harley, Charmaine (Peter) Russell, and Denny Cormier will miss their dad who was always there to help out whenever needed.
A fantastic Grandpa who always put his grandchildren first, he’ll be missed by his grandkids: Craig (Trecia), Cheryl, Ryan, Jennifer (Bob), and Mikayla, and his great-grandkids: Joel, Lucia, Baird, Logan and Piper.
Dennis will be greatly missed by his brothers and sisters in law: Shirley (late Lawrence) Thornton, Loretta (late Charles) Kerr, Joe (Lynn) Yeates, Barb (Nick) Rogozynski, Brian Yeates, Michael (Gwene) Yeates and the late Thomas Yeates. He will also be missed by his nieces and nephews who knew him as Uncle Danny, as well as many other family members near and far.
Dennis has had many friends throughout his years from his times in the military, Coast Guard, Rockwell, Parry Sound General Hospital, fishing on Georgian Bay and fixing the neighbourhood kids’ bikes.
At Dennis’s request a cremation has taken place and a service will follow at a later date.
In his memory, a contribution to Lakeland Long Term Care, the West Parry Sound Health Centre Foundation or Parry Sound Trinity Anglican Church would be greatly appreciated by the family.
Rest easy Grandpa. We hope our paths will cross again one day. We won’t forget, it’s not “Thank you”, it’s “Ugg”. xoxo
