David Roderick Henderson 2018

OBITUARY
David Roderick Henderson
February 16, 1944 – November 10, 2018
At age 74, David Henderson passed away peacefully at home on November 10, 2018, surrounded by his family.
David was born in New Glasgow, NS in 1944, where he spent his formative years. He worked in Toronto during the summers while attending UNB, where he earned his civil engineering degree. David spent the majority of his career as bridge design engineer for the Province of Nova Scotia.
He was an avid runner and participated in numerous races, including Johnny Miles and the New York City Marathon. More recently he enjoyed swimming daily at Dalplex. David was kind, thoughtful, and generous. He loved dogs and they gravitated towards him, perhaps knowing his gentle nature.
David was predeceased by his parents J. Albert (Bert) and Mary (nee MacDonald) Henderson, and his brother Allan. He is survived by his sister, Janice Henderson (Doug Spender); sister-in-law Karen; nephew Christopher; as well as numerous cousins.
He endured a brief but stoic battle with cancer while still maintaining his wonderfully sarcastic wit.
Our special thanks to all the members of the QE II Palliative Care team, as well as the many friends and family members who provided assistance, support, and sent well wishes.
Cremation has taken place and a gathering to commemorate David’s life will be held on Saturday, November 17 from 2-4pm at Cruikshank’s Funeral Home in Halifax. There will be no service at David’s request. Donations in his memory can be made to a charity of your choice. To leave an online condolence please visit www.cruiksankfuneralhome.com
