Obituary Overview
David M. Purdy
David Purdy of Riverview passed away peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, October 24, 2018. Born in Lockhartville, NS son of the late Orval and Della (West) Purdy.
David will be sadly missed by his wife of 57 years, Beulah (McCarty) Purdy, one son David (Leslie), one daughter Karen (Michael) LeBlanc, five grandchildren; Devin, Emily (Shawn), Jesse, Amber (Ryan) and Hannah as well as three great grandchildren; Madelyn, James and Desmond. Also survived by three brothers; Gary (Kathy), Earle (Kim) and Nelson (Barb), four sisters; Bernice, Christie Anne, Kathleen (Kim) and Joy (Mike) as well as several nieces and nephews.
David served as member of the Canadian Armed Forces with the RCEME Corp. for 30 years. After retirement he worked for the City of Moncton as a commissionaire. He was an active member of the Masonic Lodge, Riverview as well as an active member of the Riverview Veterans Association. He loved music, played the piano and accordion as well as various other instruments. He also loved spending time with his family and friends at his cottage in Heathers Beach, NS. In his retirement years, David thoroughly enjoyed travelling the Maritime Provinces and exploring all the unique areas.
Resting at Fair Haven Funeral Home with visitation on Friday, October 26 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held at the Chapel of Fair Haven Funeral Home on Saturday, October 27 at 2:00 pm followed by a reception in the Garden View Reception Room. Interment to follow in Fair Haven Cemetery.
Remembrances made in David’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Arrangements are entrusted to Fair Haven Funeral Home and Cemetery, 1177 Salisbury Road, Moncton (506) 852-3530.
