David Norman
1955-2018
It is with great sadness, we the family, regret to announce
the passing of David Bruce Norman, age 63, on Monday, June 11,
2018. Dave passed peacefully at the Valley Regional Hospital
in Kentville NS with his family by his side. Born in Sydney Mines, on
February 8, 1955, he was the son of the late William Joseph and Elaine
Dawn (Stubbert) Norman and stepfather, Fredrick Gordon Blagdon. Dave
worked at Michelin Tire Company for 29 years. The love of
Dave’s life was his beautiful wife of 29 years, Florence
Marie (Graham) Norman. They loved travelling together, with favourite
places being Disney, Hawaii, and Rome. They loved taking long car
rides in the country together, how much he made her laugh, and how
much he faithfully adored her! Dave and Florence spent most of their
time together and she will miss him dearly. His siblings, Lawrence
(Marilyn), Brian (Jacqueline), Paul, and Barry, all of North Sydney,
sister, Lisa (Leonard) of St. Margaret Village, special cousin Michael
Clarke (like a brother) and special aunt Yvonne, will all remember him
most for his positive outlook on life, how kind a soul he was, his
love for education, and in turn, his amazing Jeopardy skills! He will
also be missed by stepchildren, Daryl (Marilee), Denis, and Dawna
(Brad) along with his grandchildren, Stosh, Joah, and Nevaeh. When he
was around his grandkids, whom he loved so much, he was such a big
kid! They will all remember him for his silliness, his laughter, his
artistic talents, and his passion for the simple things in life.
Sisters-in-law, Anne (Denis), Nell (Rick), Debbie, and
brothers-in-law, Sammy (Colleen) and Allan will remember him most for
how resilient he was. Even though he was told twelve years
ago he only had two years to live with stage 4 prostate cancer, he
showed everyone that with a positive attitude and a fun, competitive
spirit, you may just prove them wrong. His mother-in-law, Rita Graham,
loved how he took care of her daughter. His strong love for her gives
a mother such peace. She is grateful for the time they had together.
His best friend, Dave Leblanc, who he worked with for many years at
Michelin, will miss their chats over coffee together. His strong faith
in God kept him strong, so he never feared death. Dave, you are so
loved. Thank you for teaching all of us to enjoy life to the fullest
and to never, ever give up. Cremation has taken place. There will be
no visitation, by request. The funeral service, followed by a
reception, will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday June 15, 2018 in the
White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Pastor Patrick Gilbert
officiating. In lieu of flowers donations in memory may be made to the
Canadian Cancer Society. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to
the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services,
Kentville.
