David Joseph Whittle
WHITTLE, David Joseph age 85 of Northwood Care, Halifax, formally of Lower Sackville, passed away peacefully April 6th, 2018 at the VGH. Born in Harbour Breton, NL he was the son of the late, Edward & Elizabeth (Jarvis) Whittle. David was a fisherman, and later was employed as a janitor at the Halifax School Board for 20 years. David enjoyed playing harmonica, and loved his Newfoundland music. He was a great joker and loved his card games. He loved cooking and family time. He is survived by daughter Mary (Paul) Hayes & Brenda Brine, sons, William (Carol) Whittle, Donald (Ann) Whittle & John (Penney) Whittle. Sisters, Marjorie Johnson, Gertie Hickey, MaryEllen Stacey, Mart Hickey. Eleven grandchildren, and 11 great-grand-children. Predeceased by his wife Mary Josephine (Jessie), daughter, Norma Geraldine, twin brother, Edward, brothers, Tom, Peter, Reginald. No visitation by request. A celebration of life will be held Wednesday April 11th at 11am in Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Drive, Lower Sackville. Reception to follow in the funeral home reception lounge. Burial to follow in Oakridge Memorial Gardens. Donations may be made to Heart & Stroke foundation. The family would like to thank all the staff at Northwood and special thanks to the VGH 5B staff.
