Danniel David Martinelli April 5th 2018

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father Danniel David Martinelli on Thursday, April 5th, 2018 after a long decline.
Born in Grand Forks, he came to Trail as an infant and spent his entire life in this area. Born into one of Trail’s oldest families, 120+ years, he grew up on Nelson Avenue. After technical training in Calgary, he returned to work at Cominco – the third generation of his family to do so. He was a Foreman in both the Oxide and Pressure Leach plants before his retirement in 1987.
Always in love with the outdoors, he became an avid hunter, fisherman, and in later years, a pilot. He was a world class marksman, raised and trained hunting dogs, and was a founding member of the Trail Trap Club and Trail Flying Club. He was gifted artistically and crafted his own rifles, shotguns, and his own Falco airplane.
He married his one and only love, Frances McGuire and together they raised three daughters in Montrose. Shy and quiet, blessed with infinite patience, he taught many skills to his daughters, nieces, nephew, and grandchildren. He has a new great-grandson who was a great joy to him in his last days.
He was predeceased by our mother Frances in 1994, his parents Paula and Guido Martinelli, and his sister Valerie. He is survived by his daughters Janna, Danielle (Ken) Gaudreault, Michelle (Ray) McDicken, his niece Valerie (Chris) Holt, and his grandchildren Tracy, Lisa, and Graham Gaudreault, Amy, Andrew, and Ryan McDicken, as well as great grandson Everett McDicken and numerous cousins and extended family.
There will be no service at his request and cremation has taken place. He will be interred at Mountain View Cemetery with his beloved Frances. Al Grywacheski of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services™ has been entrusted with arrangements.
We would like to thank Drs Philips and Yo and the entire staff of Poplar Ridge Pavilion for their compassion, many kindnesses, and above all, their gentle humour.
As an expression of sympathy, donations in Dad’s name may be made to Poplar Ridge Pavilion, 1200 Hospital Bench, Trail, BC, V1R 4M1 or online at www.kbrhhealthfoundation.ca or a charity of your own choice.
In his remembrance, treat each other with kindness and a smile.
You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence.
