Dale Ebert
1940-2018
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Dale Ebert on July 6, 2018 after a battle with cancer. Dale was born on May 8, 1940, son of Raymond and Leona Ebert. He grew up in St. Benedict and attended St. Benedict School. He went on to the University of Saskatchewan and obtained his B. Ed.
Dale is survived by his wife Vivian Reeves-Ebert. Vivian was an attentive presence as dad needed more and more care and did what she could to make sure he was comfortable. She assured him often of her love for him both in word and gesture. Dale had 4 children – Kevin (Jeannette) and children TJ and Carson; Ria (Andrew) Cey and children Matthew (Sharlise), Braden (Ingrid), Naomi, Luke, and Hannah; Jodi (Darren) McDougall and child Erin; and Mark, one stepson Kent (Lorraine) Regier and children Daniel, Dante and Jordan. He was a great grandfather to Charlotte, Sonja and Ada. He is survived by his sister Mona (Arnold) Jasken, sister Karen (Ben) Lewans, sister Roxy (Darrell) Clark, brother Doug (Jeanine), sister Donna (Ted) Medernach, and brother Glenn (Colette) Ebert and numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws. Dale was predeceased by two wives Neila (Regier) and Margaret Schwinghamer, his parents Raymond and Leona Ebert.
Dale taught for 32 years. He started his career in Bruno as a teacher where he met and married his first wife Margaret Schwinghamer. He moved on to a principal position in Radisson, Saskatchewan, then to Whitewood as a principal. Next he moved on to Central Butte to be principal. His final teaching position was in Wakaw, Saskatchewan where he held positions both as a vice principal and principal. .
After he retired from school teaching, he started his own business which included mediation, counseling, anger management and stress management.
After his first wife Margaret passed away, he raised 4 kids pretty much by himself along with working a full time job and was still able to find time to volunteer and coach school sports. No easy task when 3 of the 4 were teenagers.
Throughout his life, volunteerism was very important to him. He was a member of numerous Lions Clubs, Knights of Columbus, President of Kin Enterprises in PA, President of SACL, President of the Good Sam club, volunteered for Victim Services in PA, active member of Compassionate Community Response Team and for the Diocese of PA. For his volunteerism, he was awarded the Sovereign Medal for Volunteers by the Governor General in Ottawa in 2016. Also in 2016, he was awarded the Saskatchewan Volunteer Medal which was presented to him in Regina by the Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan.
In his younger years, he was a hockey player, curler, and golfer. As he grew older, he continued to golf and to curl and he also liked to fish, camp and travel.
