Dale Allan Chayer of Drumheller, beloved husband of Selena Chayer (Durant) passed away quietly on June 25, 2018 at the age of 54 years.
Born to David and Norma Chayer in Drumheller, Alberta on August 30, 1963, Dale was the youngest brother in a family of two sisters, Kathy (Murray) Stark and Pat Collins, and brother Brian (Chris) Chayer.
Living nearly his entire life in his hometown of Drumheller, Dale attended school locally at Central School during his younger years, moved onto Greentree Jr. High midway, before settling into Drumheller Composite High School for the final duration of his school days. Dale spent a great deal of his time outdoors taking in the beauty of the badlands either atop a dirt bike, or in one of the many cars or trucks he loved to take to the hills with. Dale was blessed at an early age, as those same adventures that sent his spirits soaring in his youth, would lead him to find the one and only love of his life and soulmate, Selena. All of those memories would be theirs to share together from there forth. Little did the two young teens know that their relationship would have all of the strength of a flame imperishable to withstand all tests of time to the very end.
Creating a beautiful family that continued to grow as result of expression of love for Selena was truly Dale’s proudest accomplishment and quite simply, what stoked the flames in his passion for life. Dale was a father to his only son, Nicholas, and three daughters, Jessi, Dusti, and Rikki. As they grew, he was doubly blessed in his short time to have been bestowed with 9 beloved grandchildren; Kevin, Kaden, Zayda, Nicholas, Alexander, Jaxxyn, Dallas, Zandra, and Persia; all of whom will miss him dearly and love him deeply forever. Among a number of different jobs that Dale performed well, he found himself most in his element spending the majority of his career with the Drumheller & Region Transition Society, which could not have put his values, compassion, understanding, and patience learned as a father to better use. Not only was this his career but the people he met along the way became a second family and the places, a second home; a home held close to his heart.
If Dale had more time on this earth to fulfill his interests he would have pursued his passion for flight, attained a pilot’s license, travelled the world with his soulmate, spent more time outdoors, and simply would have spent as much time as worldly possible with his children and grandchildren. His infectious smile, laughter, playful wit and sense of humour; his compassion for all people and all living things; the stories, the songs, the rhymes, and good times; Dale will be truly missed and remembered always.
A private Celebration of Life Ceremony is being held. Words of honour and remembrance will be written and prepared by Shelley Bassett and delivered by Ryan Semchuk. Food, beverage, and bar will be offered. Flowers are graciously declined and in lieu, those who wish may contribute donations to the Drumheller & Region Transition Society (D.A.R.T.S.) at:
