Dale Alexander Melin August 12 1938 August 15 2018

Dale passed away peacefully on Aug 15, 2018 after a short battle with cancer. Born in Regina Saskatchewan and lived in Lajord then settled in Richardson at the Store. He was the youngest of three children, sister Louis and brother Campbell, and his parents were Walter and Alix. Dale began his career in the Royal Canadian Navy where he met his wife Joyce of 59 years. After 5 years in the Navy, Dale joined the Regina Police Department serving two years, before moving back to Victoria to join the Victoria City Police Department where he served for 31 years retiring as Seargent.
Dale was a proud member of the Greater Victoria Police Chorus for 25 years and at one time was president. He also had a passion for Lacrosse and was a season ticket holder of the Victoria Shamrocks for over 30 years. Auto racing, curling, grandkids sports, and baking were also things Dale enjoyed. Dale was predeceased by son Lou in 2009. Survived by his loving wife Joyce of 59 years and family members Tim (Kathy) Michelle, Grandchildren Mike (Mel) Mitchell, Ashley (Justin) Danielle (Dustin) and great-grandchildren Logan, Karbella, Mia, Emma and Alyson. As well as many nieces and nephews.
Dale will always be remembered for his quick wit, humour, and one of a kind personality and will forever be in our hearts.
A Memorial Service will be held in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive on Friday, Aug 24, 2018 at 1:00pm, with a reception to follow.
