It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Claude Joseph Gionet which occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Monday, August 6th, 2018. Born 1934, in Bas Caraquet, he was the son of the late Joseph Vital Isadore and Bernadette (Noel) Gionet. Claude worked as a Licensed Electrician for Norman W. Francis, Dr. Roberts Hospital as well as the Saint John Regional Hospital before retiring in 1998. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 6770. Claude was an outdoor enthusiast who enjoyed playing golf, gardening and taking care of his neighbors.
Claude is survived by his loving and devoted wife Anita (Doiron) of 57 years; sons Jean-Guy Gionet (Holly) of Saint John; Scott Gionet (Hali) of Saint John; daughter Leigh-Ann (Raymond Gunn) of Alberta; brothers Blaise (Regina), Egide (Carol), Alcide (Beatrice); sisters Raymonde, Odette, Viola, Doris (Gordon MacNeil); grandchildren Christopher, Courtney, Meagan; as well as several nieces, nephews and friends. Besides his parents, Claude was predeceased by his brothers Sylvio and George and brothers-in-law Ed Thibeault and Augustin Doucet.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). A Memorial Service will be held at the Fundy Funeral Home chapel on Thursday, August 9th at 10:30 a.m. Interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Claude may be made to the Saint John Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit, 4B South Neuro Sciences Neurology Floor, Bobby’s Hospice or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
