It is with heavy hearts, the family of
Claire Donald Blakney, of Quispamsis, husband of Nancy
(Robinson) Blakney, announce his passing on Monday, September
17, 2018 at the Saint John Regional
Hospital.
Born in Saint John on
October 24, 1950, he was a son of the late Rev. Ken and Lena (Ganong)
Blakney. Claire was employed with Rocca Construction and Maxim
Construction as a civil engineer for several years until his
retirement. He was a charter member of Kennebecasis Baptist Church,
where he was involved with several boards and committees over the
years. Claire also served on the board of Poley Mountain Ski Resort
for a time. He was an avid skier, hiker, climber, and golfer. He had a
love for wind surfing, boating, playing hockey, and riding his
motorcycle. Foremost, he loved spending time with his wife and family.
Besides his wife of 41 years,
Claire is survived by his sons; Lance of Fredericton, NB, Andrew of
Toronto, ON, and Benjamin (Krissy) of Calgary, AB, granddaughter
Quinn, brother Allan (Joan) of Georgia, niece Cheryl Gronberg (Dan) of
Florida, nephew Derrick Blakney (Amy) of Tennessee, as well as several
cousins, great nieces and great
nephews.
Arrangements are under the care and
direction of Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road,
Quispamsis (849-2119) with visiting at Kennebecasis Baptist Church,
383 Hampton Road, Quispamsis on Sunday, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Funeral
Service will be held at Kennebecasis Baptist Church on Monday,
September 24, 2018 at 1PM. For those who wish, remembrances may be
made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
