Ciprin Kralik of Drumheller, AB, (known by most as “Cy”) passed away peacefully on March 25, 2018, at the age of 93 years.
Cy was born in small village in Czechoslovakia, and came to Canada (Nacmine), not knowing any English, when he was 10 years old. When he completed school he worked in the coalmines, eventually becoming a “fire boss”. He married Margaret Kulscar in 1951, and in 1962 they had their only child, Shelley. Cy and Margaret also lived in Penticton, B.C. for many years. While there, Cy worked manual labour and then bought and operated a small hotel called the “Creek-side”. He eventually was drawn back to Drumheller to help with his parent’s farm. Cy bought a section of his own land, and farming became his true passion until he retired at the age of 73.
Cy is survived by his daughter Shelley (Danny), granddaughters Meghan and Danielle, brother, Louis (Carole), and close in-laws, Dan and Freda Hird, as well as nieces and nephews. Cy was predeceased by his parents, Andy and Mary, and his wife Margaret. The family wishes to thank the staff of Drumheller Long Term Care for all the kindness and excellent care that was provided while he resided there.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 13, 2018 at the Knox United Church, with Rev. Heather Carlson. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Drumheller Health Foundation-Continuing Care or Recreation Department.
Courtney-Winter’s Funeral Homes were in care of the arrangements.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Ciprin Cy Kralik May 19 1924 March 25 2018 (age 93).source
