OBITUARY
Cecil VanTassel
November 11, 1921 – November 22, 2018
Cecil Ray Van Tassel – Age 97 Formerly of Lighthouse Road, Digby, Nova Scotia passed away on November 22, 2018 in Soldiers Memorial Veterans Unit, Middleton, Nova Scotia.
Born November 22, 1921 in Digby, he was a son of the late Leo and Beulah (Benton) Van Tassel. Cecil served overseas in the Royal Canadian Navy during World War II and then worked as a brick mason. Cecil was a wonderful man and provided strength, guidance and inspiration to us all. We love, honour, admire and cherish him for the loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend that he was. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Cecil is survived by his daughters, Cheryl Jean Hughes of Ontario and Heather Ann Van Tassel of Jamaica; sister, Doris Wamboldt; brother, Clayton Van Tassel; grandchildren, Kimberley Stewart, Shawn Johnson, Karen Catenacci, Brenda Hughes and Randy Hughes; great-grandchildren, Alexandria Stewart, Cameron Stewart, Kirkland Johnson, Preston Catenacci, Brianna Catenacci. He was predeceased by his wife, Audrey Jean Van Tassel nee Handspiker; daughter, Gail Darlene Johnson and son, David Ray Van Tassel.
Visitation will be 7-9 pm, Friday, November 30 from Jayne’s Funeral Home, 7 Birch Street, Digby, NS (902-245-2525) also where the service will be at 1pm on Saturday December 1st, 2018 with Burial in Fairview Cemetery, Digby.
