Obituary of Cathy McNeil
It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of a loving wife, daughter, daughter-in-law, sister and friend. Cathy McNeil, age 58 of Dominion passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2018.
Born in New Waterford, Cathy was the daughter of the late George and Theresa (Hurley) Gouthro. She was employed at Tim Hortons in Reserve Mines as an assistant manager where she enjoyed working and making lasting friendships along the way. Cathy was a member of Branch 78 Legion in Dominion where she was secretary/treasurer for 4 years. She was a avid bingo player and caller at various bingo venues. Cathy and Kevin also enjoyed playing darts.
Cathy will be sadly missed by her loving and devoted husband of almost 38 years, Kevin, sisters, Pauline (Lawrence) Peckham, Ann (Jimmy) Ryan -both of New Waterford, Niecie (Steven) MacPherson, step-sister, Diane MacPherson – both of Scotchtown. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and “Chops”, who will miss their aunt dearly.
Cathy was predeceased by her parents; brothers; James, Georgie, father and mother-in-law; Naish and Mary McNeil, who thought of her as a daughter.
In keeping with Cathy’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and guidance of J.M. Curry Funeral Home, 775 Main Street, Glace Bay. A funeral service for Cathy will be held 1 p.m. on Monday, February 12, 2018 in the funeral home chapel with Fr. Daniel Boudreau officiating. A luncheon will follow at Branch 78 Legion in Dominion. Donations in Cathy’s memory may be made to a charity of choice. Condolences to Cathy’s family may be shared at www.currysfuneralhome.com
