Catherine Anne Marie Chisholm
1948-2018
CHISHOLM (O’Neil), Catherine
“Cathy” – age 70, of
Antigonish, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 19, 2018, in St.
Martha’s Regional Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Antigonish, she was the daughter of Sarah
“Betty” O’Neil, Mulgrave, and the late
Ignatius O’Neil.
Catherine and her late husband, Neil moved to Vancouver in
1977, where they settled and raised their two children, Blaine and
April, for 25 years. Catherine had a very accomplished career with ICS
Courier as Executive Director of Western Canada and Executive Director
for Ontario prior to retiring to Nova Scotia in 2008. Catherine loved
to follow Canadian politics and enjoyed a good debate. In retirement
she enjoyed many trips back to Vancouver to see her family,
grandchildren and friends.
Catherine’s lifelong dream was a trip to Ireland.
This dream came true last year as she travelled and enjoyed this
experience with her sister Moira and brother, Lawrence. She loved
music concerts, plays and was an avid reader. Nothing was
more important to Catherine then her children and more importantly her
grandchildren: Sarah, Justin and Claire. To her grandchildren she was
known as Nannie or Ninnie. The love and affection they had for each
other would fill the room.
She is survived by her mother, Sarah
“Betty” O’Neil DeCoste, Mulgrave;
children, Blaine (Hilary); April (Jonathan), grandchildren , Sarah,
Justin, Claire; all of Vancouver; siblings, Sean
(Debbie); Gerald (Cecelia); Raymond (Carol); Lawrence (Denise);

Nova Scotia; Moira (Clarey) Tennessee; Anthony (Heather) Edmonton;

Mulgrave; aunt, Phyllis O’Donnell CSM, Antigonish.
She is also survived by her DeCoste step siblings, Chisholm
brothers and sisters- in- law and many nieces and nephews. She will be
lovingly remembered by her dear friend, Peter Watts, Vancouver.
Predeceased by her husband, Neil, father, Ignatius; step father,
Bernard DeCoste; brother, Michael Allen (in infancy); brother,
Phillip.

October 21, from 6-8p.m. in Mulgrave and Area Resting Place. Funeral
mass will be held 11a.m. Monday, October 22, from St. Lawrence Roman
