Obituary for Mrs. Carolyn Antworth
Passed away peacefully at Woods Park Retirement Community in Barrie, on Sunday, December 16, 2018, just shy of her 83rd birthday. Loving wife of the late Gilbert Antworth and former wife of the late Brad Durkee. Beloved mother of Will (Debbie), Laura and the late Steve. Dear step-mother of Echo Antworth. Proud grandmother of Jessica, Nathan, Katelyn, and Brian. Great grandmother to Brody. She will be missed by her surviving siblings Donna (Hershell) Shedd, and Wade (Joan) Chastain, both in South Carolina. Dearly missed by many other extended family and friends, in both New York and New Brunswick. Carolyn was born in Queens, N.Y. She moved to Nova Scotia in 1975. She was proud of both her U.S. and Canadian Citizenship. Carolyn moved from New Brunswick to Barrie in June of 2018 to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren. She was a devoted Christian and always active in the Baptist Church. She was very proud of her family and maintained close contact with those she loved. In her earlier years, she enjoyed singing, doing arts and crafts and needlepoint. She felt blessed to have experienced two wonderful marriages. Carolyn was gracious and always upbeat. She was a strong woman in so many ways. In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A Funeral Service will be held at Inniswood Baptist Church, in Barrie, on March 16, 2019. She will be buried in Centerville, N.B. at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Bible Society. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Homes. Online condolences and memories may be forwarded via www.steckleygooderham.com
