1949-2018
Carl B. Canning, 69 years of
age, of Southampton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 25,
2018 at the All Saints Hospital, Springhill. Born in Springhill, he
was a son of the late Ralph & Marion (Lockhart)
Canning.
Carl worked for 35 years as a machinist at RCI, Sackville,
NB. He was a founding member of the SVFD and served for 40 + years .
He belonged to the Cumberland Car Club and enjoyed attending car shows
all over the province. He was an active member of the Cumberland
Snowmobile Club and the CGSC (Snowmobile Club). He was an active
member of the COHV. Carl enjoyed his family’s sugar camp and would
spend a lot of time at his summer cottage in Pugwash and
traveling.
Carl will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 46 years,
Eileen; sons, Scott (Amy Sargent) Dan (Shannon) both of Upper
Tantalon; grand children, Abby, Benson, Sophie, Macy; sister, Dorothy
Smith of Calgary, brothers Jack (Cheryl) of Amherst, Brian ( Carolyn)
of Collingwood; sister in law, Elizabeth Canning of Amherst; several
nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother,
Doug.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of
A.H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane St.,
Springhill, NS (902-597-2361). The family will receive visitors at
A.H. Brown Funeral Home on Thursday, November 29, 2018 from 1-2 p.m.
with a memorial service to follow. Burial to take place in the
Southampton Cemetery in the spring.
Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to
the Southampton Cemetery, the Southampton United Church or the charity
of your choice. Sharing of memories and condolences may be sent to the
