Obituary of Brent Wahpooswyan
Brent ‘Rabbit’ Edward Wahpooswyan passed away in the Regina General Hospital Thursday, April 19, 2018 with his mother by his side. Born in Regina, SK on March 29, 1964, Brent attended Regent Park Elementary and Thom Collegiate High School. He worked for years for the City of Regina, starting in Parks and then driving transit for 10 of them. Entrepreneurial, Brent started his own lawn care company and later on a driving academy. Most recently he was employed in the building trades. Brent’s true life’s passion was hockey, where he made many lifelong friends, playing in the SJHL and WHL and later with Native hockey teams including the SIFC Chiefs and the legendary Dog Lake Raiders. He encouraged native youth in sports; from hosting a hockey school to coaching his own children in hockey and baseball and building a backyard rink every winter. Predeceased by his father, Arthur Laliberte, Brent leaves to miss him greatly his Mother, Hazel Wahpooswyan; daughters, Mercedes and Emilie; son Benjamin (Christine); stepson Michael (Kehiew); special nephew Keaton (Sarah); grandchildren, Azaleia, Okimaw, Lana, Andre, Avan, Kingsley; sister Lori; brothers Brian and Richard; sisters Lenora (Gerald) and Tracy (Bernie); brother Arthur (Corinne); a large extended family and wide circle of friends. Wake will be held at Morningstar Ministries, 3540 6th Avenue, Regina, SK, on Tuesday April 24, 2018, 6:00 p.m. Funeral Services at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK, on Wednesday, April 25, 2018. At 10:00 a.m. No small children to attend please.
