Bonnie Matheson
1950-2018
The family of Bonnie Jean Matheson, nee
MacDougall, are saddened to announce her passing on November 29th,
2018 after a hard-fought, two-year battle with cancer. A fiercely
independent and strong-willed person, Bonnie left this world on her
own terms. Bonnie was born on Mar. 6, 1950 to Kenneth and Violet
(Hayden) MacDougall. She attended schools in
Trenton and then went on to Acadia University. She worked for 34 years
at Trenton Works (Hawker Siddeley), primarily in the Purchasing
Department. Upon its closure, she ran the Transition Center, helping
the displaced workers find new employment. Following this, she joined
the staff at Future Works from where she retired after five years.
Family and friends were extremely important to Bonnie and she was so
proud of her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Charles;
her daughter, Meryl (Mark); her step-children, Andrew and Linda; her
grandchildren, Charlie, Blaire, Melanie, and Andrew; brothers, Donald,
Kenneth (Leta), and sister-in-law, Linda. As well, she has several
nieces and nephews, all of whom were very dear to her, and her best
friend, Bea Morash. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by
brothers, Perry and Scott; sisters, Kenda and Kathy, both in infancy;
step-daughter, Cheryl; and sister-in-law, Lynn. Bonnie was very
grateful for the wonderful care she received from so many health
professionals both in Halifax and New Glasgow: doctors, nurses,
technicians, pharmacists, VON, who made it possible for her to stay in
her own home, and the ladies who looked after her overnight, too
numerous to mention in fear of missing someone, but all were deeply
appreciated. Private funeral arrangements are under the care of R.H.
Porter Funeral Home, Trenton. Donations in her memory may be made to
the IWK Health Centre Foundation.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Bonnie Matheson 19502018..
