Obituary of Bob ELLIS
With love and fond remembrance, we announce that William Robert (Bob) Ellis died peacefully on June 18, 2018 in Victoria B.C.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 75 years, Elsie, sons Les (Linda) and Larry (Pat) and daughter Donna, treasured grandchildren Laura Gorrie, Lisa Evans, Kurt Ellis, Kaitlin Ellis and Janna Ellis and their families including 8 great grandchildren, and numerous extended family. He was predeceased by all 5 of his siblings Fred, Lizzie, Winnie, Dolly and Scholes and son-in-law Mark Winkler.
After growing up on a farm near Allan, Saskatchewan, he joined the Air Force where he trained as an airplane mechanic. Bob later qualified in multiple trades including high pressure, electric arc and torch welding, plumbing and pipe fitting, steam fitting and domestic and commercial gas installation. He proudly served for 32 years with the Government of Saskatchewan’s Gas Safety Branch in Regina and retired in 1984 as its Director.
He felt fortunate to live a third of his life enjoying retirement in Victoria. Bob will be fondly remembered for his appreciation of nature and long walks, his ability to fix anything, his strong work ethic and high standards (“any job worth doing is worth doing well”), and his keen sense of humour.
The family wish to thank Dr. Goodchild and, in recent months the home care staff, for their care and kindness. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Bob would be appreciated to support the meals program at Our Place Society, 919 Pandora Avenue, Victoria, BC V8V 9Z9 or call 250-413-3161 ext 225.
There will be a private family service.
