Blake passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side at the Chatham-Kent Hospice on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 in his 82nd year after a long courageous battle.
Charles was born in Camden Township on December 11, 1936 and was the son of the late Ray and Elsie May (Brotherton) Hawkins.
Beloved husband of 18 years to Jean (Maure) (Wood) of Chatham.
Predeceased by his first wife Nancy (Hazlett) (1997).
Dear father of Jim (Debbie) Hawkins of Thamesville and Jeff Hawkins of Gorrie.
Special ‘Pa’ to Justin (Laura) Hawkins and Jordan Hawkins and a very special great-grandpa to Joel Hawkins.
Dear step-father to Deb (John) McLachlin of Thamesville and Mike (Debbie) Maure of Barrie.
Sadly missed by step-grandchildren, Shawn (Nicole) McLachlin, Scott McLachlin, Steven McLachlin, Jessica (Dan) Maure and Natalie Maure and a special step great-grandson Raleigh McLachlin.
Blake welcomed and treated Jean’s family as his own.
Kind brother of Cecil (Nellie) Tennessee and Lynda (Bob) Homeniuk of Chatham.
Fondly remembered by nieces, nephews and close friends.
Predeceased by a sister-in-law Martha Hawkins.
Special thanks to Dr. Mayo, Dr. Bryan, C.C.A.C, C-K Hospice and all of the special people who provided exceptional care throughout his courageous battle.
The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham, ON, on Sunday, March 4, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
The Funeral Service will take place at the McKinlay Funeral Home on Monday, March 5, 2018. Time to be confirmed.
