MacKay, James William “Bill” – Age 78 of River John, passed away October 12, 2018 in Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital, Tatamagouche with Rob by his side. Born in New Glasgow, he was the son of the late James R. and M. Willow (Gammon) MacKay. Bill was a mechanic and then a carpenter, later in his career he worked for the Department of Transportation as a Construction Foreman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time at his camp and was a former member of the River John Fire Department. He is survived by his son, Robert Douglas “Rob” MacKay (Dael), Calgary, and Rob’s mother, Sandra (Munro) MacKay. He was predeceased by his sister, Mary Elaine Redmond and her husband, George. Cremation has taken place. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Coulter’s Funeral Home (902-657-3288), Tatamagouche. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until time of funeral service at 3 p.m. Wednesday, October 17, in St. George’s Presbyterian Church, River John, Rev. Gail Murdock officiating. As with Bill’s wishes, interment will be at his camp property. Memorial donations to the River John Fire Department or the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 108, River John would be appreciated.
