Obituary Overview
Beulah Marjorie (Potter) Lind
Beulah was born August 31, 1930 in the Belgrove District east of Red Deer to parents Ida and Carson Potter as the youngest of 9 children. Beulah attended school in the Belgrove area from 1937 – 1945 when she and her mother moved into Red Deer where she finished her education. In 1950, she went to work at PTS on the east hill and continued to work there until 1957. Beulah was proud of the fact that in that time she was also was the caretaker to her mother who was bedridden with arthritis.
On March 31, 1956 Beulah married Jager Hague Lind; a marriage that would last 50 years. Together they set up a home on the south hill where they raised their 3 sons: Douglas, Michael and Eric.
Beulah would later go to work at the Red Deer Regional Hospital in the cafeteria as a cashier. She worked for 20 years: days, evenings or weekends, whatever was asked of her. Her job gave her the opportunity to meet and greet people and make many friendships along the way; she never forgot a face.
As retirement approached, Beulah began a new passion, gardening. She loved spending hours with her plants and flowers and loved to share them with her friends and neighbors. She truly enjoyed her time in the sun. Those who knew Beulah, also knew of her love for Scrabble. She would play the game anywhere, anytime, with anyone, or even by herself. Beulah was a kind soul who loved people and being around them, whether in a social setting like the Golden Circle or places of faith like the Salvation Army. She had only spent a few weeks at the Parkvale Lodge but had already made many new acquaintances and friends.
Beulah was predeceased by her husband Jager in 2006, as well as her parents, 3 sisters and 5 brothers. She leaves behind her sons; Douglas of Austin, Texas, Michael (Julie) of Red Deer, Eric of Red Deer and her grandchildren Darby and Nickolas. She also leaves to mourn many special nieces and nephews who were close to her heart.
A family celebration of life will be held in the spring when the flowers have returned, as she requested. Beulah asked that donations be made to The Lending Cupboard, 7803 50 Ave #1, Red Deer, AB T4P 1M8 or to the Salvation Army Kids Lunch Program, Territorial Headquarters 2 Overlea Blvd. Toronto, ON.,M4H 1P4 in Red Deer.
“I’ve lived for those who love me; whose hearts are kind and true;
For the heaven that smiles above me; and the good that I could do”
