Ruby Elizabeth “Betty” Byatt, age 92, formerly of Stratford, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Ritz Lutheran Villa, Mitchell. Born in Listowel, daughter of the late Jesse and Louise (Johnston) Peachey. Predeceased by her husband Robert Byatt August, 20, 2003. Loving mother of Jim (Marg) Byatt and Connie (Steve) Scott. Loving grandmother of Amy (Jamie) Simons, Sarah (Bren) Erb, Lindsay (Geoff) Gericke and Jeff Scott and great grandchildren Cole, Mason, Sadie, Emily, Lila and Ivy. Betty grew up in Atwood and went to high school in Listowel. She came to Stratford to work at Kroehler’s and married Bob and had a wonderful marriage for over 50 years. Betty volunteered for many years with the Hospital Auxiliary, blood donor clinics as well as other activities in the auxiliary. Betty spent many hours visiting people in nursing homes. She loved to play bridge anytime of the day and also loved golf. She was a longtime member of the Beta Sigma Phi. Besides her parents and husband Bob, Betty was predeceased by brothers Arthur, Horace and Gordon, sisters Dorothy Skowby (Pud), Eileen VanDop (Tony) and sisters-in-law Kathleen Peachey, Tress Peachey and Marie Young. Friends and relatives may call at the W. G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Sunday, January 21, 2018 from 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. A Reception will follow. Interment to take place at a later date in Avondale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers and as expressions of sympathy memorial donations may be made to The Alzheimer Society of Perth County or Stratford-Perth Rotary Hospice Foundation through the funeral home. 519.271.7411. www.wgyoungfuneralhome.com
